My fist visit to The Summit!! In West Virginia, I had the opportunity to go The Summit to earn Leatherworking merit badge. I really enjoyed all of the hands-on parts of the badge. I like to create things, and this was different than anything I had ever done. Some of the things were easy and others were much more difficult that I expected. I was able to finish everything up though on the trip and will definitely be doing more projects in the future.
The Summit was in some ways smaller than I thought… and in some ways bigger. The base camps look like regular camp sites from summer camp. I expected them to be much larger. We got a special tour around camp (thanks Ms. Trish for arranging it). Seeing all of the different parts make it look more like I expected. The buildings at camp are really cool too. I wish every camp could be so nice. I hope that one day I am able to come back for Jamboree. I also want to find the Big Foot. I know he is lurking out there… I will find him.
This was out first stay ever at an AirBnB. While we were reluctant at first, it was better than any of the hotels locally. We were pleasantly surprised by the house. I was beautiful inside and had everything we could need. It was really nice to be able to cook our own meals instead of having to eat out all the time. Mom made my special burgers and tater tots! I have a new love of tots after the Billy Goats Gruff.
We were able to do some shopping and went to the antique store. I love looking at the scenery. It is SO different that Michigan. Hopefully the next time I am there, I am able to spend more time outdoors. Maybe a rafting trip would be good…
