The last state on this trip was Virginia. We stayed at Annapolis during our visit. It was really cool to drive around and see everything on the campus. I haven’t decided on a college yet but this one is very special. Due to Covid, we were not able to go into any buildings but the Lodge we stayed. I will look forward to a trip back soon. For now though - GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY.
I earned Coin Collecting merit badge in Virginia. I had fun finding different “collections” as I completed the badge. One extra collection I did was birth year for everyone in my family. The funniest coin was the 2020 quarter for my nieces. It has a bat on the reverse of the coin. I bet they didn’t know when they designed it that Covid would be started by a bat. Thank you to Ms. Shannon for helping me learn new things! And getting my Dad re-engaged in an old hobby again.
After we completed my badge, we went to Virginia Beach. It was dreadful. It was cold, cloudy and rainy. There was no one on the beach and almost all of the stores/restaurants were closed for Covid. I do hope to get a chance to go back again when it is warm and things are back to normal.
After Virginia, we headed home. We stayed in another AirBnB which was nice. They had a kitchen that I would REALLY love to cook in. They had really great gadgets. When we left the next morning though, we saw something interesting. God takes us on interesting adventures and we find the most unexpected things. As we were leaving the house in Warren, Ohio, we saw a totem pole type tree. It looks as if the tree was cut down for some reason. The owner though had it carved with all kinds of BSA symbols. There was not only the typical stuff, but OA, Wood Badge and Eagle Scout symbols. You could tell a lot about the person that lived there by that tree. I am really glad I got to see it.
