Our western adventure took us to Utah next. The drive there was beautiful. The landscape is so different from what we have in Michigan.
We had a tough time reaching the MBC the day before our meeting. We were planning fly fishing and needed the location. Unfortunately, we found out early the morning we were supposed to meet that he had tested Covid positive. We were able to find a different fly fishing instructor but with a little help from the council, we were able to find an instructor for Scholarship merit badge. A scout is prepared, and fortunately, all of the work for that badge was on my computer. A huge shout out to Ms. Tina . She met me after work late in the evening so I could complete Utah.
We made a trip to the Great Salt Lake. I will say that it is NOTHING like the Great Lakes at home. It smells terrible! And the black stuff you see on the sand? It’s FLIES! Like a moving walkway. We didn’t stay long but we did dip our toes in the water. It was very warm and very salty.
We also got to go to the zoo. It was so HOT that day... but there wasn't many others at the zoo so we were able to see all of the animals in a short period of time.
We did a little more sight seeing and headed off.
On the way to the next destination, we had a bit of a car issue with the rental car. Someone else’s car threw a piece of metal which did damage to our rental car. We lost several hours due to running between locations, but we were finally in our way to the next location.
